2004 Achievements

Thanks to our many donors, this year we have positively impacted the lives of more than 10,000 impoverished Sumbanese. Highlighted below are some of our donors that gave to a specific cause but we want to express our appreciation to all of our supporters that allowed us to accomplish so much for the people that have the least. The Sumbanese people are truly grateful for “the people with the golden hearts” that have come to help.

Water:

6 water projects were completed this year bringing clean water to more than 2,000 people.

Education:

More than 800 students now attend four schools, which have been painted with colourful murals, fitted out with tables and benches, blackboards, toilets and clean water and provided with sporting equipment.

Health:

Five new nurses have been added to the Sumba Foundation Clinic which has been extended to include an exam room and a malaria laboratory and we have retained world renowned entomologist and malaria expert Dr Claus Bogh to supervise the Foundation's Malaria control program.

Other activities:

Completed production of a wonderful book about the Sumbanese people (see www.sumbabook.com) with the generous sponsorship of many people and organisations.  All proceeds from book sales go directly to supporting our field work.
